Build a Native Habitat Garden - 6:00 pm

Join Sonoma County Master Gardener Bill Klausing for a talk about creating a native habitat in your garden. Each decision has a significant effect on the web of living things in their own backyard. By building a, mostly, native habitat garden, your landscape can be environmentally sound, water-wise and quite beautiful. Bill will present helpful tips for attracting more native birds, bees and insects to your landscape. Many plants native to Sonoma County will be discussed, and the usefulness of each to your habitat garden will be highlighted. This FREE talk is appropriate for ages 10 and up. Doors open at 5:45pm

Petaluma Mothers Club Egg Hunt & Spring Festival - 11:00 am

Join us for a fun-filled morning searching for Easter Eggs.  There will be an Egg Hunt for each age group ranging from 0 to 5 years old, with prizes in each egg!  We will also have Jumpy Houses, Face Painting, Petting Zoo and Photos with the Easter Bunny.  Food and Drink provided by Velasco's Catering, Rafy's Pizza & Trader Jims Dole Whip. 11am-2pm

Sheep Shearing Day at Petaluma Adobe - 11:00 am

Watch our flock of sheep get sheared! Join shearer, John Sanchez, as he demonstrates historic & current ways of cutting wool off sheep. Learn how to card & spin wool as they did in the 1830's. The Petaluma Adobe served as the headquarters for General Vallejo's 66,000 acre cattle rancho from 1836 to 1846. Shearing was a necessary part of rancho life. Wool was turned into blankets and rugs and sent out to the trade ships. See website for more details.

Bonsai Talk, Beginner’s Workshop, and Maintenance Class - 10:00 am

Join Bullseye Bonsai’s owner Donald Hoisington and Heart of Clay's Felicitie Trout to learn about the incredible history of Bonsai, and how to care for your own trees Health and vigor. Start with this lecture, and then stay for the beginner's workshop. All students will get first pick of trees at the following workshop class! 10-11:30am

Donald Hoisington & Felicitie Trout  will move through the creation process, learning how to shape, re-pot, treat illnesses, and properly water a Bonsai tree. Your $30 materials fee covers everything you'll need to create your own beautiful Bonsai tree: pre-Bonsai tree, growing medium, Bonsai pot, wires, and specialized tools. BRING YOUR OWN STRAIGHT EDGED GARDEN HAND SHEARS (or purchase a pair at The Seed Bank). Limited seating. Please RSVP by calling or emailing The Seed Bank directly. 12:30pm

The intermediate class will discuss and then work on making root on rock and root over rock Bonsai plantings. Trees, rocks, moss, muck material, and other tools will be provided. Students should familiarize themselves with the concept and design. Slate and granite will be used. A variety of suitable outdoor species will be provided. Bring non loved clothing and perhaps gloves. Students should bring their trees and any tools they have. Any and all questions will be answered. 3pm

Three-hour river cruises set sail from the Turning Basin. Two tours on Sat.: 9am-Noon & 1-4pm;  Easter Sun., 11am-1pm. Learn about history and wildlife as you cruise through the wetlands. Call for ticket info.
