During the week of February 19th, we are hosting community service workshops for teens ages 13-18 to create paper mache winged hearts for our upcoming criminal justice reform installation. We are creating this in collaboration with the Marin County Civic Center and the People’s Commission for Integrity in Criminal Justice. The workshops will be held every day that week from 2pm-5pm. Students who are interested may attend one, a few, or all of the workshop days.
Our goal is to have a number of 18″ winged hearts created by teens to send to incarcerated individuals to paint and decorate to contribute their voice and story to our installation. (The students will in no way be in contact with these individuals – they are helping create the art that will be sent to them). During the workshop, we will be discussing topics of criminal justice, incarceration, and how this system impacts our lives.
